Laser Hair Removal Knutsford
Are you fed up with unwanted facial and body hair? Do you get nasty red painful in-growing hairs after shaving or waxing? We can help you using safe, effective and permanent laser hair removal – anywhere on the body.
How does laser hair removal work?
We use Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, as a safe, long-term solution to unwanted or excess hair for men and women. Results can be seen after just a few treatments.
It works by firing short bursts of intense light at the skin. The pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft absorbs the light. This causes the hair follicle to heat up, which destroys the root, so that it is no longer able to produce a hair. As IPL works by its attraction to pigment, not the hair itself, you don’t need to let your hairs grow before a treatment, unlike waxing.
How long does laser hair removal take?
Before starting removing hair with laser, we carry out a detailed consultation to make sure you are suitable for laser hair treatment and any questions can be answered. We carry out a test patch before laser treatment at a cost of £25 redeemable against your first laser treatment payment.
Treatment time varies depending on the size of the area concerned.
- A small area such as your top lip, for example, takes just 10 minutes.
- A larger area, such as your back or two full legs will take up to 60 minutes.
Laser hair removal treatment takes place at monthly intervals for 6 months. Then it’s at 6 to 8 weekly gaps, dependant upon the area to be treated and the how fast your hair grows. Typically, 6 to 11 sessions are required, depending on hair colour and type.
Although the hair follicle is dead, the hair shaft is still in place. The hair is gradually pushed out over a period of 7-14 days, so it may look as if the hair is continuing to grow. After 3 sessions true regrowth is usually minimal and you’ll be able to see the real benefit of your investment.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Once a hair follicle has been destroyed it will never produce hair again. It’s not possible to guarantee that the treated area will always be hair-free, because inactive follicles, dormant during the treatment period, may become active again at some point in the future, perhaps triggered by hormonal changes in your body.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Many clients are amazed at how “pain free” laser hair removal treatment is. At worst, it’s similar to a flicking elastic band sensation where the skin is thin. Laser versus waxing – there is no contest in the pain stakes! We apply cooling gel before treatment starts and offer a cold air jet as it continues.
Are there any side-effects?
Following laser hair removal treatment at our Knutsford clinic your skin may feel “tingly” and may be slightly red in the area treated. We apply cooling aloe vera gel which is effective at reducing inflammation.
